Private adult counselling for anxiety, stress, burnout and low self-esteem
Life can feel overwhelming at times, leaving you anxious, emotionally drained, or unsure of where to turn. Private counselling offers you a safe, confidential space to explore what you're going through at your own pace, with gentle, professional support every step of the way.

Feeling overwhelmed? Private counselling can help you find a way through
Whatever you're going through, reaching out for support is one of the most courageous things you can do. Adult counselling provides a nurturing, non-judgmental environment where you can speak openly and honestly about your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without any fear of judgment. There are no expectations, no pressure, and no rush. As an NCPS accredited counsellor with over six years in private practice, I work with adults on both a short term basis of around six to eight weeks and on a longer term basis, depending on what you need. Sessions are available face to face and online, giving you the flexibility to access support in the way that works best for you.
Could counselling for anxiety, burnout or low self-esteem help you?
I work with adults experiencing a wide range of emotional and personal challenges. If any of the following feel familiar, counselling could help you find a way through:
Stress and anxiety
Burnout and emotional fatigue
Low self-esteem and confidence
Relationship difficulties
Feeling overwhelmed or stuck
Grief, bereavement and loss
Lack of motivation
Emotional health and personal growth

A holistic approach to adult counselling and emotional wellbeing
My approach to counselling is holistic, meaning I consider the deep connection between your mind, body, and emotions rather than focusing on symptoms alone. I recognise that every person's journey is completely unique, which is why I never apply a one size fits all method. Instead we work together to create a therapy plan shaped entirely around your individual needs, circumstances, and goals.
In our sessions you will find a warm, welcoming space where you can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. We will work at a pace that feels right for you, building greater self-awareness, developing emotional resilience, and establishing healthier coping strategies so that you can move forward with real confidence and lasting clarity.
What to expect from your first private counselling sessions
Taking that first step towards counselling can feel daunting, and it's completely natural to feel uncertain about what to expect. There is no single way that counselling looks or feels, because every person who comes to me brings something entirely unique. What I can tell you is that from the very first conversation, you will be met with warmth, patience, and complete confidentiality.
Your free 30 minute discovery call
This is not a formal assessment or clinical consultation. It is simply a gentle, informal conversation where you can share a little about what you are going through, ask any questions you have, and get a sense of whether I feel like the right person to support you. Many people find that just having this initial conversation feels like a relief in itself.
Your first counselling session
Your first session is not about having all the answers or knowing exactly what to say. We will talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you are hoping to feel differently, and start to gently explore what our work together might look like. You are in complete control of how much you share and how quickly we move.
Building understanding session by session
Each 50 minute session is a dedicated space that belongs entirely to you. We explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at whatever pace feels right, gradually building a deeper understanding of yourself and the patterns that may have been shaping your life without you fully realising it.
Reflecting on your progress
We regularly pause to reflect on how things are going, what has shifted, and what you still want to work towards. Some people find six to eight sessions gives them the clarity they need to move forward. Others benefit from longer term support. Whatever feels right, we always review progress together with your wellbeing at the centre of every decision.
What does counselling cost and what do you get from every session?
I believe accessing support should be as straightforward as possible. All counselling sessions are priced clearly with no hidden costs.

Your questions about adult counselling answered
If you're new to counselling, it's natural to have questions. Here are some of the things people most commonly ask before getting in touch.
Adult counselling is a talking therapy that provides a safe, confidential space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with a trained professional. It can help you gain insight into yourself, develop healthier coping strategies, and work through a wide range of emotional and personal challenges including anxiety, stress, burnout, and low self-esteem.
You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from counselling. If you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or simply not quite yourself, counselling can help. Many people seek support when everyday life feels harder than it should, and finding help early is always better than waiting until things feel unmanageable. If you are unsure, my free 30 minute discovery call is a great place to start.
Your first session is a relaxed, pressure free conversation where we get to know each other. We will talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you are hoping to achieve, and start to shape what our work together might look like. You do not need to have all the answers before you arrive, and there is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with.
Counselling helps by giving you a dedicated space to slow down, reflect, and make sense of what you are experiencing. Rather than managing things alone, you work with a trained professional to understand your thoughts and feelings more deeply, identify unhelpful patterns, and develop practical strategies for moving forward. Over time most people find they feel calmer, clearer, and more in control of their lives.
Individual counselling sessions at MindMoor Therapy are 50 minutes long and cost £60 per session. I also offer concessionary rates for those on a low income, so please do get in touch if cost is a concern. I also offer a free 30 minute discovery call by phone or Zoom before you commit to anything.
Yes. I offer counselling both face to face at my practice and online via a secure video call. Many people find online counselling just as effective as in person sessions, and it offers greater flexibility if travel or location is a barrier. You can choose whichever option feels most comfortable for you.
The terms counselling and therapy are often used interchangeably and there is significant overlap between them. Both involve working with a trained professional in a confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. If you would like to understand more about the differences, our therapy vs coaching page explains this in detail.
This varies from person to person. Some people benefit from a short term focused block of around six to eight sessions, while others prefer longer term ongoing support over a number of months. There is no fixed rule. We will regularly review your progress together to make sure you are always getting what you need from our work.
Yes, everything you share in our sessions is completely confidential. I work within the ethical framework of the NCPS, which means your privacy is always protected. In very rare circumstances where there is a serious risk of harm, I may be required to act, but this would always be discussed with you openly wherever possible.
No, you do not need a GP referral to access private counselling. You can contact me directly to arrange a free 30 minute discovery call and we can take it from there. Private counselling means you can access support quickly, without waiting lists or lengthy referral processes.
Still have questions about adult counselling on your mind?
It is completely natural to have questions before starting counselling, and you do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. If there is something on your mind that is not covered here, I would be glad to answer it gently and honestly during a free discovery call.
Taking the first step is easier than you think
I offer a free 30 minute discovery call by phone or Zoom so we can have an informal chat about what you're looking for and whether I'm the right fit for you. There's no obligation, just a gentle conversation at a time that suits you.
